The Salop boss gave Town’s number one the nod in the goalless draw against Brighton Under-21s – and he was rewarded with some exceptional saves to help them get a draw.

He also produced an excellent stop in the shootout which helped Shrews to a 4-1 penalty win, but the boss says it was a very hard decision to pick him over Burgoyne, who usually gets his chance in this competition.

He said: “It was a difficult call to play him instead of Harry and I understand Harry’s frustrations, I totally take that on board and accept it.

“But Marko, he was exceptional. I thought he was good in terms of his use of the ball on Saturday compared to the game against Brighton Under-21s, he was better on Tuesday.
