Thorpe, who arrived earlier this month on a season-long loan, has played predominantly as a right wing-back to this point in his career but scored his first goal for the club coming off the left in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Stourbridge.

Taylor, who worked with Thorpe during his time working in Tottenham’s academy, believes the 22-year-old has plenty to offer in the attacking third from both wings.

He said: “I felt Elliot scored and then took his foot off the throttle, if you like. But there is loads more to come from him.

“He is a forward thinking wide player, who can play off either side. When I worked with him he was predominantly a central midfielder, so he has gone away and developed his game.
