Dave Edwards: Shrewsbury's latest new-boys look like shrewd signings

New Shrewsbury Town signing Joe Anderson sounds exactly like Matt Taylor’s type of player.

The defender might not have played a lot of senior football but I know a few people at Sunderland who speak really highly of him.

He’s composed on the ball, likes to push into midfield and make things happen. On top of that, as a defender he is strong in the air and tough in the tackle.

Hopefully this can be the season he really makes his mark in men’s football. At 22-years-old, the time feels right for that. Hopefully, Shrewsbury can benefit.

Anderson is also left-footed and I always say you can never have too many in your squad. Shrewsbury are certainly not short of options, with Jason Sraha having already arrived, Tom Flanagan who played most of last season on that side and George Nurse as well.
