Town claimed a handy point from an entertaining 1-1 draw at The Valley, where the visitors led through Sean Goss' header before Conor Washington levelled.

Stand-in boss Wilbraham feels it is a sign of progression that Town players can be disappointed with just a point from promotion-chasing Charlton, which made it a four-point week on the road for Town.

The 'tinge of disappointment' in the away dressing was after Town substitutes Daniel Udoh and Dave Edwards failed to convert golden opportunities in the dying stages as Salop pressed for a winner.

"I thought we played really well, we got stronger as the game went on and had chances to win the game," said Steve Cotterill's assistant Wilbraham.

"There's a tinge of disappointment in the dressing room from the lads but we can't be too disappointed because I thought everyone played really well and we could've definitely won the game."

On the chances, Wilbraham continued: "We had a few, Curtis' (Main) effort across the front post where the keeper made a great save, Shaun Whalley's volley was really unlucky.

"But the two chances mentioned, Edo has said it bobbles up a bit, which happens, and Dan Udoh couldn't get it out of his feet. We had some good chances and that's why the lads are disappointed, and with the goal they conceded."

Goss' third goal in five games, a stunning diving header from Matthew Pennington's excellent cross, looked like securing a memorable win in south east London.

But, as Charlton upped the ante at the midway point of the second half, the pressure told as Washington converted a scruffy equaliser for his second goal in two games, robbing Harry Burgoyne of a second clean sheet on the spin while stepping in for Matija Sarkic.

Wilbraham said: "The manager touched on (over the phone) at half-time about him (Goss) getting further forward, we saw what he could do against MK Dons with his two goals.

"And it was a great header and great ball by Matthew Pennington, who was excellent today as well, it was a great team performance from everybody.

"We watched clips of Conor Washington this week and we know he likes to come in on his right foot, so I think the lads could've helped him (Burgoyne) out a bit, with a block knowing he was going to come on his right foot.

"I haven't seen it back to see if Harry would be disappointed and I think Harry did really well today as well."
