Knee surgery following an injury against Liverpool in the FA Cup in January looked to have ended the midfielder's season but Norburn has spent most of the near two-month break from football due to the coronavirus undergoing rehab.

And should Sam Ricketts' side have the chance to conclude the final 10 games of their League One season, Norburn, 27, is targetting a return to action.

"Yes that's right," said Norburn when it was suggested there is a chance he could feature when football resumes

"Obviously I had an operation 10 weeks ago and over the course of the coronavirus happening I've been recovering and doing my rehab."If the season is to go back underway I'll be looking to play some kind of part.

Norburn was speaking to Town matchday stadium announcer Ryan Jervis as part of the Shrewsbury Town In The Community 'Question of Shrewsbury Town' online quiz.

He added: "It's been pretty tough, we've done a lot of Facetime sessions with the physio, Beechy (Jordan Beech), and I've got some equipment at home I've used.

"It's been hard not having one-to-one physio in terms of hands-on treatment.

"We've followed the plan and everything has gone pretty smoothly so far so I'm hoping for a return as soon as possible.

"Less than a month might be a bit too soon but we'll see."

The captain continued: "Obviously it's difficult for everyone. I've been doing a lot of rehab work, but for me I'm not missing football – in terms of I'm not missing games (because of the injury).

"I've got a target and my target is to get fit so I can play a part. For me I have a goal and hopefully I'll reach that and be able to play a part."

Norburn and midfield counterpart Josh Vela were competing in the quiz against boss Ricketts and first-team coach Dean Whitehead, which can be watched here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cl7OgsdsMRg&feature=youtu.be
