The full-back placed two classic worn blue and amber shirts up for supporters to bid for on Twitter – including the jersey worn in his dramatic late match-winning display against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup in 2016.

Grimmer, who now plays for Town's League One rivals Wycombe, also offered the shirt he wore in his original loan stint against Chelsea in the League Cup to raise money for the Shrewsbury Food Hub charity.

Town fan John Parr won the shirt worn against Chelsea for £275, while Gareth Hopkins' offer of £400 for the shirt worn against Sheffield Wednesday outbid fellow fan Phil Thomas, who agreed to donate £100 to the cause.

Grimmer tweeted: "VERY generous bids have raised a whopping £775 for Shrewsbury Food Hub.

"I'm blown away by the generosity! I'd encourage anyone that can spare anything, no matter how little, to donate."

The famous 3-2 Cup comeback win over Wednesday – where Grimmer headed a remarkable 97th-minute winner – is one of Town's most popular victories in recent years.

The mammoth League Cup tie against Chelsea's all-stars was the first time since its opening in 2007 that the Oteley Road stadium commanded filled-in corners due to high demand.

Volunteer-powered charity Shrewsbury Food Hub distributes surplus supermarket food to local community groups, providing vital supplies to those who require it most.

They admitted to being 'blown away' by the social media fundraiser.

Scot Grimmer, 26, was a big hit with the Town fans and made 59 appearances for the club across three loan spells.
