The Hatters appear to be seeing off interest from several top League One rivals and Championship outfits for his signature, according to sources in Bedfordshire.

Morris, 22, spent the first half of the season on a successful loan spell with third tier outfit Wycombe Wanderers, where he scored three times in 21 appearances.

His Montgomery Waters Meadow contract is up in the summer.

The central midfielder, part of last season's run to the League One play-off final, looks set to leave Sam Ricketts' Shrewsbury.

Luton have been the surprise package at the top of League One this season and Nathan Jones' men currently sit second.

Morris, a Middlesbrough academy product who played for England at various youth levels and was captain of the Three Lions under-20s, made 43 appearances in all competitions in 18 months for Town.

There is no shortage of interest in the north-east born midfielder, who caught the eye of a number of clubs while on loan.

Town are believed to be interested in Crewe midfielder Brad Walker while it is understood Dave Edwards will seal a Salop return when he leaves current club Reading.
