The 31-year-old winger triggered an option in his favour after racking up enough appearances last season but has joined Craig MacGillivray, Junior Brown and Abu Ogogo in exiting Montgomery Waters Meadow.

Boss John Askey was hopeful of keeping the popular wide man but he will join another club with a number of interested suitors.

Rodman finished his 18-months at Town with 10 goals in 75 appearances in all competitions.

The wide man said: "I'd like to say a huge thank you to Shrewsbury Town for such an enjoyable 18 months, the most enjoyable period of my football career so far.

"It has been a pleasure to go in work every day and be part of such a historic season.

"It has been an honour to play for your team."

Askey revealed losing Rodman was not too much of a blow thanks to the cover Town possess in wide areas.

“I’m a little bit disappointed I thought he’d probably sign but I think he’s had quite a few offers from different clubs,” he said.

“We’ve just got to move on. We’ve got other targets as we knew there’s a possibility he’d be going.

“It’s just about looking to bring another body in.

“We’ve got Arthur (Gnahoua), (Abo) Eisa, Fejiri (Okenabirhie) who can all play there. I’ve even seen Stefan Payne play there so it’s not a position we haven’t got bodies for."

“We’re looking to strengthen all over.”
