Talks on new Shrewsbury deals likely to recommence after Sunday's play-off final
Paul Hurst may wait until after the play-off final to begin negotiations over new deals with senior Town players.
The Shrewsbury boss will offer fresh terms to out-of-contract duo Abu Ogogo and Junior Brown, who between them have made 222 appearances in blue and amber in their three-year spells.
Left-back Brown, 29, has not played since October after surgery on his cruciate ligament but has returned to training and has been running with other squad members of matchdays.
Skipper Ogogo, 28, has not featured since a red card at Northampton in March led to a four-match suspension before the midfielder injured his medial ligament in training shortly after.
The Town chief has stated that uncertainty regarding Town’s divisional status for next season makes plotting summer contract and transfer talks difficult. He said: “There’s no update. A big part of that is myself and nothing to do with the players.
“That has kind of rumbled on and now we are one game away. Do you wait and see exactly what league you’re in? Then you’re taking that uncertainty out of any talks that are taking place.
“I’m not sure if they’ll be done after the final, in all honesty. It’s something to think about, but I’m not too concerned.
“Both players know they will be offered terms. You’re never quite sure on how that’ll work out or what they think of what they’re offered.”
Hurst had revealed Ogogo failed to respond to contract talks before Christmas. They have also been in discussion in recent months. Talks may now wait until after Sunday’s clash.
