Luke Hendrie says Shrewsbury Town will take run-in one game at a time
Defender Luke Hendrie is ready for the rollercoaster of a promotion run-in – but insists Town will do everything in their power to control their fate.
Today’s trip to Scunthorpe marks the beginning of 11 games between now and May 5 when the season ends.
January signing from Burnley Hendrie, 23, knows the winning formula is about taking things day-by-day and game-by-game.
He said: There is going to be ups and downs. We’ve literally got to take each day as it comes.
“Anything can happen between now and the end of the season.
“We’ve just got to make sure we’re looking after ourselves and doing the right things.
“We’re definitely excited. For me it’s the best part of the season, when it’s starting to get a bit lighter and people know what they’re playing for – whether it’s promotion, play-offs, relegation.
“It’s great. Hopefully we can carry on this good run of form but there will be ups and downs, we’ve got to keep level-headed.”
Hendrie explained how Paul Hurst’s players remain level-headed even with the mouthwatering prospect of promotion ahead.
“Looking back we’ve been first, second, third, I’m sure it’ll go right to the wire,” he added. “It sounds like a broken record but we’ve got to control what we do in training and on matchday.
“For me you’ve got to stick to the process. There’s no point looking at the end goal, that’s the job for you guys (the press). We’ll train well and make sure we’re prepared. The staff leave no stone unturned.”
