Mat Sadler's Shrewsbury Town pre-season diary - July 6th
Mat Sadler is offering a diary from Shrewsbury Town's pre-season camp in Portugal - here's his third extract.
The second full day and a recovery session in the pool meant we got Toto back in the water.
We gave him his rubber rings and his armbands on so he was a lot better this time!
It was another tough day. There was more of the same in the morning with a run.
We tried to mix it up by going a different way but it was still hills after hills after hills! That was fun, as you can imagine. Then we had two sessions of football which were really tough.
We’ve tried to time it so we’re out of the sun but it was still very hot, the gear was wringing wet!
There was a breeze the first day but that appears to have gone.
Talking to the staff everyone seems happy with the work we’re putting in and I’d like to think we’re feeling the benefit.
We had a sleep in the afternoon and Abu Ogogo can sleep for hour upon hour.
I think he had four hours, so he was looking fresh for the evening session.
Me and Doddsy are trying to catch up on the sleep that we’re missing when we’re at home with the little ones so we had a good couple of hours as well. Rodders decide to soak up on his tan and he’s looking like Madge out of Benidorm at the minute!
All in all, it was a good day and everyone is enjoying themselves.
On another note, Callum Roberts has lost his key three times now and had to fork out for two new ones.
These young lads now, I don’t know how they get up in the morning! Someone will need to keep an eye on him.
