Alex Owens steps up as Shrewsbury Town Ladies boss
Alex Owens says he wants to take Shrewsbury Town Ladies ‘to the next level’ after being appointed as their new manager.
Owens, pictured left, replaces Sean Evans, who stepped down at the end of the season and has now become boss of AFC Telford ladies. He has spent the last two years as assistant to Evans having previously worked at Wolves.
“In three years time we want to be in the Women’s Premier League and to build the profile. We want the ladies side at the forefront of the community,” he said.
“We’ve got the plans and now it’s time to take things forward.
“Sean did a fantastic job and laid the foundation.
“They’re a superb bunch and a fair few of them will be signed, but they’ve all got to fight for their places.
“It’s great to have control and be able to make decisions.
“The aim for this season will be to get promoted. We want a clear philosophy and for the players to buy into it. I’ll be straight with the players and my aim is to get the best out of them.”
