Paul Hurst is not worried by Shrewsbury away form
Manager Paul Hurst is confident his Shrewsbury Town side can transfer their home form in a bid for away-day victories.
Salop head to fellow relegation battlers Gillingham on Saturday as they bid to reel in the Kent side – currently three points and three places above Town in 17th.
Hurst's only league win away from Greenhous Meadow was at Millwall in December, while he also tasted success in the Checkatrade Trophy at Middlesbrough.
"I don't think going away we should have any fear," said Hurst. "We went to Sheffield United – with the early sending off – we went to Bolton and Rochdale and had major decisions go against us but we were certainly in the games.
"It's not like, for me, we can only pick up points at home. I haven't seen that. Our approach isn't very different.
"People talk about home and away, I've never been massive for really changing the outlook.
"If we're looking upwards rather than over our shoulder, Gillingham are within touching distance so if we could a result then suddenly we're level in that mix. If we can drag a couple in then that can only be healthy for us and give us a better chance."
Gills, now with Adrian Pennock in charge, claimed an impressive 2-2 draw at Sheffield United last weekend.
"They're still in the period of very much wanting to impress the new manager," he added. "We go knowing it'll be difficult.
"There are very few times I feel the lads have put in a performances that's not up to standard. Some games we've done really well, others we've just competed well."
Winger Alex Rodman hailed the impact of his fellow newcomers in Town's up-turn of form.
Rodman followed Toto Nsiala as Salop's second signing this window and has since been joined by Freddie Ladapo, Tyler Roberts and Bryn Morris.
Since Hurst has fielded his new talent, Town have picked up seven points from three games, lifting them out of the League One drop zone.
Rodman said: "Some of the boys that have been here before have noticed that difference and it's obviously showing on the pitch which is really pleasing.
"Everyone is working their nuts off and the team spirit and positivity around the place at the moment is really good. I think the fans can sense that everyone's working hard for each other."
