Micky Mellon furious with referee following Shrewsbury draw
Frustrated Shrewsbury Town boss Micky Mellon revealed his astonishment at referee Michael Salisbury's performance as Salop took a well-earned point from AFC Wimbledon.
Town finished the game with 10-men as forward Ivan Toney was shown a second yellow card inside the final 10 minutes.
But Mellon's charges defended resolutely to hold onto their well-deserved point at Kingsmeadow.
Toney was dismissed for supposedly catching Dons keeper James Shea after a clearance but Mellon fumed his striker was innocent.
He said: "Ivan has not even touched him, I've looked at the DVD, he's got to challenge for the ball. It's a game of football to try and block things. He's not made any physical contact.
"Please somebody tell me in this whole stadium they never seen Louis Dodds get two hands on his back and pushed in the box.
"There has something got to be done hasn't there? When the two managers are both agreeing that something has to be done with standard of the refereeing.
"We're baffled, we're miffed, I don't want to get into any trouble because I don't deserve to for somebody else's performance.
"At the end of the day my lads have fought and battled. Some decisions had the home fans behind me laughing, which is a guide as to where it was.
"I'm a football fan and I want the players to be the best on the pitch, the most influential and the guys to make the difference.
"Too often now it's not and it's got to get better."
Mellon was pleased with his side's showing in the second period, where Ian Black grabbed a quick-fire goal to cancel out Lyle Taylor's early opener.
A point moves Salop up to 21st and halts a two-game losing run ahead of Tuesday Greenhous Meadow clash with Peterborough.
Mellon added that he thought the hosts' opener had an infringement with Junior Brown blocked for Dons' short corner.
"You'd have to say it was a hard-earned point yes," he said.
"I thought in the first-half we were poor. We weren't anywhere near where we wanted to be in the first-half.
"We made a couple of changes and they sparked us. Before we went down to 10 men we find ourselves a wee bit unfortunate with the opportunities not to nick that winner.
"It's always a hard place to come and we will accept a point.
"You can't believe it can you. From their point of view they've worked the block on Junior and the man on the edge of the box has gone and finished it.
"They'll be pleased but from us you see the block and it's a foul."
