Micky Mellon is sure Shrewsbury goals will come
Defiant Shrewsbury Town boss Micky Mellon has seen enough to be confident that his attackers will find their shooting boots.
Town dropped to a disappointing 3-0 reverse against Charlton Athletic at The Valley on Tuesday after conceding three poor first-half goals.
A memorable EFL Cup success against Huddersfield Town aside, Salop are yet to score this season. But Mellon remains optimistic with what his side have been showing.
"We need to score more goals, but we're creating the chances and we've just got to keep on going and keep working hard," said the Scot. "There's not an awful lot you can do about individual errors.
"You have to give yourself a chance by not conceding goals like that, and then at the other end when you do get the bits that you do away from home, you've got to take the chances."
Mellon led his charges out at The Valley in a similar 3-4-3 formation to the one that was successful during the second half on Saturday at Coventry.
And Mellon insisted, while acknowledging sloppy errors at the back, that Town's plan worked in certain areas.
He added: "We passed it for fun and controlled pretty much good chunks of the possession for pretty much most of the first half.
"The only times we were troubled was when we made individual errors."
