Jayson Leutwiler is set to stay on at Town
Jayson Leutwiler looks set to stay at Shrewsbury Town as he closes in on signing a new deal.
The 27-year-old, who is one of three Town out-of-contract keepers offered new terms with Mark Halstead and Callum Burton this summer, is understood to be nearing an agreement to remain at the Greenhous Meadow.
Shrewsbury-based Leutwiler has been in talks on and off for several months now and has always said he wants to stay.
But it's believed those discussions have moved on now and that the Swiss is set to remain in Shropshire.
Leutwiler's decision could have a knock-on effect for Halstead and Burton, who will be looking at their own first-team prospects as well as offers as they consider their futures.
Leutwiler has racked up 90 appearances for Town since arriving on a free transfer from Middlesbrough two years ago, making a full recovery from a horror facial injury at Grimsby in December.
News that he looks like staying will come as a disappointment to Wolves, who were looking at Leutwiler as an option to compete with first choice Carl Ikeme.
But it will delight Town fans, who are excited by six summer signings completed by yesterday's arrival of Port Vale pair Ryan McGivern and AJ Leitch-Smith to join Olly Lancashire, Gary Deegan, Louis Dodds and Antoni Sarcevic.
