Bobby Grant: New-boy Antoni Sarcevic will be fantastic for Town

Shrewsbury Town are getting a 'fantastic' signing in Antoni Sarcevic – says former loan star Bobby Grant.

Grant played with Sarcevic at Fleetwood in the season just gone and reckons Town are getting a quality player and the best athlete he's played with.

"I'm disappointed he's left Fleetwood but Shrewsbury are getting a fantastic signing," said the 25-year-old, who helped Micky Mellon's side to automatic promotion from League Two in 2014-15.

"They're getting a very honest, hardworking midfield player who can get goals.

"He's a very good athlete and very comfortable on the ball in both boxes. As soon as he gets on the pitch, the fans will understand what I mean. He covers every blade of grass. He'll run box to box and he'll still be sprinting in the 90th minute because he's one of the best athletes I've played with.

"He won't have a bad game and then a good game – he'll be consistent throughout the season.

"Sometimes players like that pick up injuries, especially with the physique he's got but he looks after himself and the physio will love him."

Sarcevic reckons he had a 'wasted two years' after a 15-goal first season with the Cod Army.

But Grant defended him, saying: " We've played different formations.

"When he scored those 15 goals, he was playing more as an attacking midfielder or a number 10."
