Sullay Kaikai backs Shrewsbury Town
Winger Sullay Kaikai has tipped Shrewsbury Town to challenge for the play-offs next season – after playing his last game for the club.
The 20-year-old loan winger has been recalled by Crystal Palace after both clubs achieved safety in their respective divisions.
Kaikai could now be involved in Palace's top-flight matches at home to Stoke this Saturday and at Southampton on Sunday May 15, after his stunning impact in blue and amber.
But he is ineligible for the FA Cup final against Manchester United the following Saturday as he is cup-tied, having played for Town against Grimsby in the first round.
Kaikai's recall means he misses Town's final game of the season at Swindon on Sunday and won't get a chance to add to his 12 goals in 29 games in all competitions.
But the highly-rated youngster believes Town could challenge at the other end of the League One table next term.
He said: "The club is going to grow, that's for sure. The squad might change a little bit but the core of the team is good enough to challenge for a play-off spot next season.
"I don't think they need to make many changes, but the signings that they do bring in will add to the squad."
Boss Micky Mellon is grateful to Palace for allowing the highly-rated youngster to come to Town and said: "It would be great to think he's going to play in the Premier League."
