Micky Mellon focused on Shrewsbury Town
Manager Micky Mellon will be focusing on Shrewsbury Town's fate before seeing how old clubs Fleetwood and Blackpool affect the survival scrap this weekend.
Town go to Gillingham on Saturday when Fleetwood host Blackpool in a relegation crunch on the Fylde coast.
If Shrewsbury and Fleetwood win, Mellon's side would need just a point from their final three games to finish ahead of the Tangerines.
The latter occupy the final relegation place and would then only have two matches left.
Mellon managed Fleetwood for four years and spent three years as a player with Blackpool, where he has lived for over two decades.
But he insists he will ignore the outcome of events on the Fylde coast to concentrate on Salop's challenge.
He said: "We'll just concentrate on our thing. We're aware of what other teams do.
"The important thing is we focus on Shrewsbury and our next game, then we'll find out about the others at the right time.
"These things crop up at times, but that's not the way I look at it at all. I think there are more teams involved as well, but they are immediately around us.
"It's nothing personal for me, it's just ironic, but you could probably throw in another dozen teams where other people are connected.
"Other people will look at it like that, but it doesn't concern me."
Town go to Kent having gone seven games without a win following Tuesday's 2-1 defeat at home to Sheffield United.
But Mellon insists confidence isn't a problem, as he claimed they produced a performance as good as anything they have done this season.
He said: "We don't feel sorry for ourselves, we take our medicine and we quickly move on.
"Confidence is something we say the players must find, but they're performing well and we're getting closer all the time to being a really good side.
"The performance on Tuesday night was as good as we've played. Apart from punishing Sheffield United, we did everything we could have been asked to.
"You're seeing us fight, so I couldn't fault that. There were moments of quality but maybe not just that final touch where we could punish them – like Sheffield did.
"They scored from their two shots on target, but those are the fine margins."
Town welcome back midfielder James Wallace for the trip to Kent, after he was ineligible to play against his parent club in midweek.
