Capital gain for Abu Ogogo and Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury Town midfielder Abu Ogogo returns to the capital tomorrow fully expecting a hostile reception in the Lions' Den – and targeting revenge.
The Londoner, born in Epsom, schooled at Arsenal and honed at Dagenham, is well aware of how Millwall fans make it difficult for the opposition.
Millwall's recent record also makes it look like a tough afternoon is on the cards for Shrewsbury Town.
The Lions haven't conceded in front of their own fans in five games, winning four, and have lost just twice in 16 outings home and away to climb into the play-off positions.
Ogogo made his competitive Town debut in the season-opening 2-1 defeat to Millwall.
He said: "It's going to be very difficult – it's not a very nice place to go. The home fans are on your back and they they try to make it as difficult for you as possible.
"So we know what to expect, but we've been on a good run, and, after an off-day against Wigan, we need to pick ourselves up and go there and get the right result, so hopefully we can."
Ogogo has painful previous with Millwall – at Dagenham he was on the end of a 5-0 defeat in the FA Cup third round in January 2012.
Kenny Jackett's Lions contained a certain Harry Kane on loan from Tottenham and the future England regular scored twice and provided one assist for hat-trick hero Darius Henderson, on a night to forget for John Still's side.
The recalled Ogogo said: "I've played there once before in the Cup and we lost, so I owe them one for sure."
The 26-year-old is expected to captain Town after wearing the Shrewsbury armband for the first time in last week's 5-1 defeat to Wigan.
It's a role he got used to in six years at Dagenham and admits he relishes the extra responsibility, but hopes for a better outcome tomorrow.
He said: "I was captain at Dagenham for a few years and I've worn the armband a few times when 'Natty' (Knight-Percival) or whoever has gone off.
"It was nice to lead the boys last week, just a shame about the result."
Ogogo is Town's most used player this season and he has been a model of consistency.
Manager Micky Mellon believes League One rivals are sitting up and taking notice of the former Arsenal reserve, but it's water off a duck's back for Ogogo.
He said: "To hear that makes me feel good and so I must be doing well for them to be talking about me and trying to win the battle against me.
"But I don't really listen to what people say, I just concentrate on my job and do my best.
"I feel I've done quite well for my first full season in League One. "We were getting good results until the Wigan game so, hopefully, Saturday was just a blip."
