James Wesolowski's comeback continues
Midfielder James Wesolowski's bid for fitness continues as Shrewsbury Town reserves host Port Vale in the Final Third Development League West Division.
The Australian made his comeback from a ruptured cruciate ligament for the second time with a planned 30 minutes in last Tuesday's 1-0 defeat to Bradford reserve.
He's now pencilled in for a longer stint at Shrewsbury Sports Village this afternoon (2pm).
Manager Micky Mellon reckons Wesolowski's determination is such that he can still achieve his aim of playing for the first-team this season.
The Town boss continued: "If you're James Wesolowski, yes. He's got unbelievable spirit and desire that is an example to any footballer. So, knowing him as I do, I'd say that's realistic.
"Last week went well for him, and, like I said to him, that's the first one out of the way now because people keep saying 'have you played yet?' Well he's up and running.
"We will take it day by day with him. He's got a bit of a stiff hamstring but that's to be expected because of the amount of work he's put in, but he's come through it all well.
"We'll continually step it up to a point where we believe he can nudge the first-team group and put them under pressure for the positions."
With points still needed to be safe in League One, it's likely to be another youthful side that takes the field alongside Wesolowski.
