Jack Grimmer: No let-up until Shrewsbury Town stay up
Jack Grimmer insists Shrewsbury Town won't let up until they have guaranteed their League One future.
Town are eight points clear of the drop zone with eight games left after a nine-match unbeaten run.
But the on-loan Fulham right-back believes Salop can't afford to take their foot off the gas until the figures show it's impossible for them not to be relegated.
"The easier option is to say we're there, but I won't for one minute think we're safe until it's mathematically impossible for us to get relegated," said Grimmer.
"We're taking each match as it comes and each game is a cup final.
"We're not taking our position for granted. You see all the teams down there and they're all struggling for points.
"We don't want to get dragged back into that because when I came here I knew some of the fixtures to finish the season are against top-six, seven teams.
"I'm glad we're on the run we're on because every point is valuable."
Sullay Kaikai has been instrumental in Town's revival with five goals in as many games.
Grimmer believes the on-loan Crystal Palace star will get to the top because of his work-rate and the fact he's a team player.
Asked if he has the talent to play in the Premier League, Grimmer said: "Yes, definitely. There are lots of wingers with talent, but it's also about what they do going the other way.
"I've learned massively from playing in the Championship that if you have a winger that works back defensively, it's invaluable.
"He's definitely been working on that side of his game – I saw him tracking the full-back every time (in Friday's 1-1 draw against Port Vale).
"It's something that won't grab the headlines but it's a part of his game that's just as important."
Grimmer believes Kaikai is a match-winner. "He scored at a time where we weren't creating a lot of chances – it wasn't like we were pushing for a goal," he said.
"To get on the ball and create something out of nothing is what the players who have the best careers do."
