Mike Jackson: Win is for the Town fans
Mike Jackson believes Shrewsbury Town have given their fans something to shout about after beating Coventry 2-1.
Sullay Kaikai and Shaun Whalley scored the goals to cancel out Aaron Martin's opener as Town made it three wins in a row and six unbeaten in the league to climb eight points clear of the drop zone.
It was a breathless, end-to-end game with chances at both ends and Town mounting a fierce defensive rearguard in the second half to keep out the Sky Blues, who have now suffered four straight defeats and seven losses in nine.
The one downside for Town was another injury, this time Junior Brown going down with a nerve problem after just 27 minutes.
But Salop's assistant boss Jackson, who was standing in for manager Micky Mellon who has a touch of flu, reckons Town are wowing the Greenhous Meadow faithful after turning their home form around with back-to-back victories.
"I think it's great - Micky and myself spoke about it the other day that we've got to give the fans something to shout about," said Jackson.
"We've done that since the Southend game - we've actually got the fans off their seats.
"They can see what we're trying to do and we're attacking more, there's more of a dynamic.
"Sometimes it's a little bit like a basketball game in that it's end to end, but the players are really starting to put themselves in a position now to attack teams."
Town are now eight points clear of the bottom three with 11 games left but Jackson said they can't be complacent.
"It can turn really quickly - we've got to dust ourselves down quickly and go again against Scunthorpe on Saturday," said the Town number two.
Left back Brown limped off after just 27 minutes after aggravating a nerve problem in his leg and is a doubt for Saturday.
Jackson believes keeper Jayson Leutwiler (thigh) could be out for a week or two and said defender Zak Whitbread (hamstring) may be out for another week after both missed the game.
