Video: Micky Mellon on Town's stalemate

Manager Micky Mellon admitted Shrewsbury Town suffered a post FA Cup hangover after a goalless draw at rock-bottom Colchester.

Town failed to get an effort on target for the second game in a row, with Abu Ogogo's volley first-half volley against the post the closest either side came to scoring.

Mellon said: "We got a point and a clean sheet against a team battling around us - those are the positives we could take from it.

"It was one of those games where you could tell both teams were desperate for the points; it was nervy at times and we looked like we had a hangover from Monday.

"But it's the time of the season where you take any point away from home that you can as the positives.

"I don't think there's any doubt about that (Monday took a lot out of the players) but it was an away point."

Relegation rivals Fleetwood shocked League One by winning at Coventry while Chesterfield won at Gillingham.

But Mellon denied it was a missed opportunity, saying: "No you just pick up points."

As for the lack of chances created, Mellon said: "I don't think there were many chances - early on I think it was one of those where you get from teams in our situation."

Richie Wellens missed the game and didn't travel after picking up an ankle injury in training yesterday.
