Micky Mellon's side go to rock-bottom Colchester on Saturday, just five days after millions watched their fifth-round defeat to Manchester United.

It's a sobering thought after the glamour and national hype that accompanied the preparations for their clash against the Premier League giants.

But with the long trip to Essex kicking off three games in eight days and Town back in the relegation zone, they must turn their attentions to League One survival.

Brown is confident they will be able to focus on the league now their Cup exploits are over, with Rochdale at home next Tuesday followed by a trip to Doncaster the following weekend.

"With the staff and the way we're focused and the squad we've got, there won't be any hangover," said the left-back.

"We'll focus on the job in hand because this is what we get paid for – to do well in these games coming up.

"These are the important ones where we have to stand up and be counted.

"United was a massive game but we're focused on the job in hand and we've still got a lot to do in the league, so we'll knuckle down, work hard for the rest of this week and kick on for Saturday."
