Shrewsbury Town complete deal for Cameron Gayle

Shrewsbury Town have today signed former West Bromwich Albion defender Cameron Gayle on a two-year-deal.

Gayle, 21, has been on trial at the Greenhous Meadow in pre-season and he has sufficiently impressed Town boss Micky Mellon enough to earn a permanent deal.

The talented right-back has twice spent time at Shrewsbury on loan from the Baggies, playing 21 games in total.

Gayle played 18 times for Town in the 2012/13 season, scoring one goal as Graham Turner's side recorded a 16th place finish in League One - the team's highest finish since 1990.

He only played three times for Town last season on a one-month loan in November and December.

That campaign ended in relegation back to League Two but Gayle is hoping to help lead the team back to the English third tier this time around.

He said: "There is definitely a squad here that is going to be competing to get promoted and I can't wait to get started."
