Up-for-sale Asa Hall back at Shrewsbury Town
Asa Hall today returned to Shrewsbury Town with no fresh terms to take the out-of-favour midfielder back to loan club Oxford United in sight.
The 27-year-old reported back to Town this morning after a six-month loan with the League One play-off contenders, playing 21 games and scoring three times.
Shrews manager Graham Turner has made it clear Hall is up-for-sale but a return to United, where he spent two years before joining Town in 2012, is not clear-cut.
Turner is more concerned with loan renewals for his own borrowed players, with winger Adam Reach returning to Middlesbrough with an extension being agreed.
Bolton striker Tom Eaves and West Brom defender Cameron Gayle's terms expire tomorrow and, with no game this weekend, striking deals will take precedence.
Hall is likely to be shipped back out of the Greenhous Meadow at the first opportunity after a disappointing year-and-a-half on the club's books for the player.
Turner said: "I have heard nothing from Oxford and his loan has expired, so Asa is back with us and he's available for transfer, it's as simple as that.
"The ball is in Oxford's court if they want to do anything and I am surprised they haven't as yet because, from what I can gather, he's done quite well.
"What we will do now is circulate his name to clubs. I have got no arguments with him, but I don't think he's really fitted in with what I am looking for.
"He's been in and worked hard but he doesn't fit in with my plans. He's had half a season with Oxford and they are a club that are flying high in their league.
"I would have thought they would move to keep him there, either with a further loan or on a permanent basis, but that hasn't materialised for him."
"Over the next two weeks, it's going to be a busy time with our own players, as there has been one or two enquiries."
