Shrewsbury Town striker James Collins today signed a two-year contract with Town's League One rivals Swindon Town.

The 21-year-old, who was top scorer for Graham Turner's men with 16 goals as they secured promotion last term, was unveiled at the County Ground this afternoon.

Collins had been offered a new two-year deal to stay at the Greenhous Meadow but has instead opted to join Paolo Di Canio's side who won the League Two title ahead of Town last season.

Shrewsbury will be entitled to compensation for the Republic of Ireland under-21 international as he is under 24. That will be decided by a tribunal unless the two clubs can agree a fee.

The move means Town have now lost four of the five players they offered contracts to at the end of last season with Collins following Ian Sharps,

Shane Cansdell-Sherriff and Nicky Wroe out of the Greenhous Meadow exit door. Goalkeeper Chris Neal has yet to decide his future.

Collins joined Town from Aston Villa in January 2011 and scored 22 goals for the club.
