Departing Shrewsbury Town physio Nathan Ring today completed his 'promotion' to League One - admitting he leaves the Greenhous Meadow with a heavy heart, writes JAMES GARRISON.

Ring, 30, has spent three-and-a-half years with Shrewsbury with all but the opening season as first team physio. But he now leaves to join League One leaders Brighton where he will replace retiring physio Jim Joyce.

"I have had a fantastic time at Shrewsbury and it has been a very steep learning curve since I was given the first team role by Paul Simpson ," said Coventry-born Ring, who was heading south today.

"I have had other opportunities to move on but with Brighton top of League One and about to move to a new ground, this feels like the right move. It was a tough decision and I really hope Shrewsbury go on to get promoted."

Manager Graham Turner confirmed youth team physio Chris Skitt will step up to fill the first team role in the interim - and is likely to be offered the job permanently.
