A brief statement from the club confirmed Abbott had decided to leave the club and ‘pursue other opportunities’.

Abbott took charge at Greenfields in October after Drayton legend Martyn Davies was axed.

Former Hinckley boss Abbott made a host of signings in a bid to turnaround the club’s fortunes in the Evo-Stik South Division.

Abbott’s last game was Saturday’s battling 2-1 defeat away to Bedworth and left them 17th in the table.
