Bernard McNally: Victory will give AFC Telford a boost

When you are in a relegation scrap, it’s a case of moving forward one step at a time.

It doesn’t matter if you take baby steps as long as you are heading in the right direction.

So Telford’s 1-0 win at Alfreton on Tuesday bodes well for the rest of the season.

The victory – courtesy of a Marcus Dinanga goal – was just the boost the players needed.

It’s not easy to win away from home. And even more importantly, the Bucks also registered a clean sheet.

They have been few and far between this season but they have now got something to build on.

I was delighted for Rob Edwards, the players and all the staff at Telford when I saw that result come in.

They may still be in the relegation zone but they need to use it go on a mini-run.

It’s about about survival now. And if they could have a little run and consistently pick up points, they will be fine.

Hopefully they will take the momentum from Alfreton into the Darlington game at the weekend.
