Edwards - in the dugout for the first time since becoming Bucks chief last week - oversaw a 4-0 victory against Haughmond, which was played at Wellington Amateurs' School Grove ground.

Elliot Durrell, Ant Dwyer, Will Marsh - three of seven Telford trialists - and Matt Barnes-Homer got the goals on a day where the former Wolves and Aston Villa man gave more than 20 players a chance to impress.

Edwards said: "I was pleased with that, with all of them. I thought their attitude was really good.

"I thought some of the key messages we have been trying to get across over the last week came out in the game.

"There is still loads to work on and loads to build upon, but looking at the game as a whole there were certain individuals I was really pleased with, who were really trying to do what we want them to do."

Next up for Telford is a friendly with Villa at the New Bucks Head on Wednesday (7.30pm).

They will also play the likes of Wolves Under-23s and Shrewsbury Town before the National League North season starts in August.

On the win against Haughmond, Edwards added: "As a whole, I'm really pleased with everyone - attitude mainly.

"We have got some more fitness into the legs and the whole thing about pre-season is getting fit, staying fit and trying to build a way of playing - as well as a team spirit.

"Today was a good step towards that."
