Two injury setbacks strike at AFC Telford
AFC Telford United defenders Paul McCone and Darren Campion have suffered fresh blows after breaking down again with knee injuries.
Both were embarking on their first full training sessions back in their comeback bids - and McCone looks set for a long-term absence.
McCone had had a month out with medial ligament damage, while Campion's problem was understood to be more minor.
Assistant boss Larry Chambers said: "Both Paul and Darren broke down and it's a massive blow to us and such a shame for them.
"They have both done all their rehabilitation properly and we were careful not to rush them back, but Paul especially was in a lot of pain.
"He was twisting and turning and the knee just gave way. He will need a scan. He hasn't gone to hospital yet ,but he has his own physio and he will go and see him.
"It might need an operation or it might need two months' rest first, we don't know yet."
As for Campion, Chambers said: "He has aggravated the same knee - it's nowhere near as bad as McCone; he trained for 45 minutes and looked good, but it's knocked him back.
"It's such a disappointment for them both."
Telford are hoping to sign a replacement for McCone, with on-loan Burton Albion stopper Liam Slade a doubt after coming off in Saturday's 2-0 FA Trophy defeat to Chester with a groin injury.
The Bucks are also hoping to sign a highly-rated, lower-league midfielder to add more physical presence, with both captures planned for the weekend visit of Lowestoft.
Chambers said: "We're possibly looking to bring in a centre-half because of what's happened to McCone, in addition to another one, so we're looking at two, with one coming in today."
But there is some brighter news for Telford, with right-back Dwayne Samuels (groin) and Dave Hibbert (knee) coming through training and looking like they will be fit for the weekend.
Chambers said: "They both came through OK and, if they do the same tonight, then they will be in the squad on Saturday."
Connor McCarthy is available for the final game of his three-month loan from Southport on Saturday.
