Hasselbaink move could hit Bucks loan duo
AFC Telford United are sweating on the fallout of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's move to become QPR's new manager to see if they can keep two loan players.
Burton Albion duo Liam Slade and Sam Austin are lined up to play for Telford in tomorrow's trip to Curzon Ashton after playing the last two games.
Brewers chief Hasselbaink is expected to be unveiled as QPR's new boss imminently.
There is a verbal agreement for centre-back Slade and winger Austin to remain at the New Bucks Head until the transfer window re-opens on January 2.
But the youngsters are on youth loans, which means they can be recalled at any time.
And management duo Rob Smith and Larry Chambers are sweating on whether Hasselbaink's replacement – whoever he may be – will want to recall them. "With the talk Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will be leaving, we'll have to see how that affects us," said Chambers.
"But we haven't heard anything at the moment, so we don't know.
"Certainly the people at Burton Albion are really interested to see how they are doing."
Austin is needed with Jake Hibbs recalled by FC Halifax, Sean Clancy injured and Johnny Gorman out of favour.
But with the focus this week on trying to sign a central midfield ballwinner, Chambers played down the prospect of any wingers coming in.
"We've been fortunate as Sam has made a good impact so that's helped us in that area," he said.
"If someone comes along we'll see because we're always looking to improve."
Meanwhile, Telford hope to have left-back Darren Campion available for tomorrow's National North clash after he missed the the 2-1 win at FC United of Manchester in the FA Trophy to rest an accumulation of knocks.
