Rob Smith: Onwards and upwards for Bucks
Rob Smith has vowed the only way is up for AFC Telford – as captain Paul McCone was almost certainly ruled out for the weekend.
Tuesday's impressive 3-1 win at FC United of Manchester lifted the Bucks off the bottom of National North for the first time since Smith's return to the club in September.
Telford are now fourth from bottom as they prepare for a trip to new basement side Corby on Saturday.
And Smith is anxious for his side to build on their first away win since April 18.
"It's massive, it's a monkey off the back for us," said the Bucks chief. "We won't take our foot off the pedal because, if you do, you can be sucked back in.
"We're out of it and we must stay out of it. Hopefully we can really rise up the table. It's a case of onwards and upwards now.
"I said we had to start winning at home, which we did, then I challenged the players to win away and we've done that.
"Four games unbeaten is a big thing for us and we want to try to stretch that to as many as we can."
Meanwhile, McCone looks like being out for several weeks after sustaining suspected knee ligament damage on Tuesday.
"I saw a physio yesterday and they reckon it's ligament damage," said the skipper.
"It's swollen so it's still too early to say and it's a case of icing it and resting it, but I still can't bend it or straighten it so I think I'm doubtful for the weekend.
"I ran with the ball and planted my foot and my knee went backwards as if I'd over-extended it."
Smith expects left-back Darren Campion, who was set to undergo plastic surgery on his gashed lip after being hurt on Tuesday, to be fit for the weekend.
"He'll be back for Saturday – I've no doubt at all he'll be playing and I'll be disappointed if he's not," said the boss.
