Rob Smith: We won't go down

Rob Smith insists AFC Telford United will win their relegation battle – and he reckons they will soon go on a run of victories.

Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Boston United was the Bucks' third loss in a row and sixth game without a win.

They remain rooted to the bottom of National League North with just five points, six from safety.

But Telford have played much better in their last two games and boss Smith believes his side are closing in on a much-improved sequence.

"I've never had a relegation battle, let alone a relegation, on my CV," said Smith.

"And I don't intend to have it this season – but I won't as long as those lads stick with me.

"We'll be all right. I honestly believe it.

"People can laugh at us and think we're deluded because we lost again.

"But with the hard work myself and those lads are putting in, we'll be OK.

"Saturday's performance was as good as we've had since I've been here.

"We'll be positive. When we win one, we'll go on a little run.

"But it's disappointing to keep going back on that coach with no points.

"The commitment was outstanding.

"With hard work you normally get your rewards.
