Midfielder Godfrey Poku reckons there is a 50-50 chance he will remain at AFC Telford United for next season.

The fans' favourite, who joined the Bucks last July, is out of contract this summer and is expected to have several clubs bidding to tempt him away from the New Bucks Head.

But manager Steve Kittrick is keen to retain Poku's services to help lead the team's fight back after relegation to the Conference North.

Poku said: "It's 50-50. I have got a meeting with the gaffer this week so we are going to talk terms and see where it goes.

"I really don't know where I stand yet but I want to know what I am doing next season early."

He added: "There's a chance I will stay. They are a great bunch of lads and this is a really good club. It is probably one of the best clubs I have played for.

"I have played for quite a lot of teams and this is definitely up there with the best."

Whether he stays or not, Poku believes the Bucks will bounce back from relegation by winning an immediate promotion back to the non-league's top tier.

He said: "I think there is enough in place to bounce back next season. The club has great support and a good manager in Steve, who I think will take us straight back up."

Relegation has understandably been a bitter pill for all to swallow this season.

But Poku has provided a rare shining light in a frustrating campaign with dozens of committed displays in the heart of midfield.

And he was rewarded for his efforts with four prizes at the club's end-of-season presentation night on Saturday.

Poku won the away travel club, vice president's, sponsors' and supporters' Player of the Season awards.

And he said: "I possibly thought I might win one award but I didn't think I'd get four, no way.

"They are all pleasing awards and I am proud to have won them."
