Top scorer Tony Gray has handed AFC Telford a "massive" boost ahead of tonight's trip to Grimsby Town.

The former Chester man, who has scored 13 Conference Premier goals this season, had to be substituted at half-time against Forest Green Rovers on Saturday after suffering a knock to his eye in a collision.

But the injury has improved greatly since, and Gray is in contention to feature at Blundell Park.

Manager Steve Kittrick said: "The swelling has gone down now. There is just a bit of bruising so he should be OK, which is massive for us.

"He's a good player, he has been enjoying his football, and it is a massive plus for us that he will be available."

Midfielder Jack Rea should also be in the mix having recovered from an ankle injury picked up during Telford's 1-0 loss against Halifax late last month.

The former Guiseley man impressed after his arrival from Bradford Park Avenue at the start of January, and was forming a solid partnership alongside Godfrey Poku.

Kittrick said: "Jack will come in tonight hopefully. There's a decent chance he will be involved.

"He trained fully on Thursday and we waited to see if he had any reaction, which he hasn't. So fingers crossed he's available.

"He's a good player for us and again it will be massive to get him back."

The Bucks boss is keen to extend the loan of young Bolton Wanderers defender Glenn Matthews, who made his senior debut in Saturday's reverse at Forest Green.
