Steve Kittrick: AFC Telford are flying again
AFC Telford United manager Steve Kittrick believes his players have their confidence back as they head into a crunch Conference Premier clash with Dartford.
The Bucks boss has overseen a huge change in the club's fortunes since his arrival, as he continues to plot the club's inspiring late bid to avoid relegation to the Conference North.
Telford have a big opportunity to close the gap on sides out of the relegation zone tomorrow, when they host a Dartford side just one point and one place above them.
But while fans are looking at the fixture as a 'six-pointer', Kittrick reckons it's just one game.
He said: "I don't want to put too much pressure on it. We have to look at it as just another game where we are trying to take maximum points.
"But if we aren't able to do that there are still plenty of winnable games to go, games that we will win."
With Bucks fans now believing their side can beat the drop, Kittrick feels it's vital the feel-good factor continues.
He said: "It's great the fans are believing in us, but it again comes back to confidence. The reason they believe in us is because we have given the players confidence to go out and play.
"You only have to look around the place to realise people have now got smiles on their faces.
"That's important because you work hard all week, you come and play football and people pay good money – so we need to try and play decent football.
"My job is to make sure we put a smile on the faces of everyone connected with the club."
Telford prepared for tomorrow by beating a young Birmingham side 2-0 on Wednesday night, with goals from Sam Smith and Andy Owens in a match which saw Ian Sharps make his first Bucks appearance.
Kittrick said: "I thought Sharps did well. He's a massive signing and the lads have told me he is a great talker. His experience rubbing off on the others can only help."
