The Bucks were set for their fourth successive defeat until Phenix's late goal at home to Barnet, cancelling out Elliot Johnson's strike with 10 minutes left.

Telford led for the fourth match in succession through Tony Gray's penalty, given for hand-ball by David Stephens. Former Premier League winger Lee Cook equalised.

It secured only their third point of the campaign but, due to Alfreton Town's victory at Southport, Liam Watson's side still sank to the foot of the standings for the first time.

The game started slowly with Barnet dominating possession but without any real goal threat, while the home side's first two efforts on goal both managed to clear the Frank Nagington stand.

Josh O'Keefe spurned Telford's first real chance midway through the first-half, when he got on the end of an Andy Todd cross from the left but he could only steer his header wide of Graham Stack's goal.

But the Bucks stunned the leaders in the 38th minute when referee John Brooks awarded Telford a penalty, after Gray's left foot volley was adjudged to have been blocked by Stephens' hand.

Gray stepped up – composed as always – to side foot the ball into the bottom right-hand corner, sending the experienced Stack the wrong way.

The visitors came out of the blocks quickly after the break and almost immediately levelled things up, when unmarked centre-half Bondz N'Gala headed over from a corner.

The offside flag then denied loanee O'Keefe his first Telford goal, when he slotted home after Stack pushed out Gray's shot from the edge of the box.

Barnet continued to press as the hosts tried to hold on to what would have been a precious win, but the London club's pressure eventually paid in spectacular fashion in the 69th minute.

Lee Cook, who once cost Fulham £2.5million, picked the ball up on his left foot in the Telford half and fired into the top corner from 25 yards, goalkeeper Jonathan Hedge having no chance.

John Akinde shot over five minutes later, after good work on the left from substitute Adam Mekki had set him up, while Telford defender Neill Byrne came close with a header shortly after.

But left-back Johnson silenced the Bucks faithful with 10 minutes left to play, when he scrambled the ball home from a tight angle after Hedge had pushed out his initial effort.

Telford manager Liam Watson was left furious, after Farrell got on the end of Andy Owens' pull back to score Telford's second offside goal of the afternoon.

But, three minutes into stoppage time, Phenix rose highest to head home a superb Owens cross from the left, to send the Bucks support barmy and bring an end to a rough week for Telford.
