Tony Gray pushing for start at AFC Telford
AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson could turn to Tony Gray to lead the line as their search for their first win of the Conference Premier season.
The Bucks are back in training tonight as they prepare to go to Bristol Rovers on Saturday, after Sunday's 2-0 defeat against Aldershot.
That made it back-to-back home defeats for Watson's side, who were beaten 3-2 by Macclesfield Town last Tuesday night.
They opened the campaign with a 1-1 draw at Welling United, that battling point with nine men the only one of the season after three games.
Gray has come off the bench for the last two matches and is pushing for a start, after impressing Watson as a replacement.
He said: "After Sunday, no one can turn round to me and ask why they are not playing, if I choose to make changes this weekend.
"We have got to do better and stop giving team's head-starts. Until we eradicate that, we are not going to stay in games.
"We can't keep playing for 20 minutes here and there, we have got to do it for the whole game.
"Tony has come off the bench and looked likely, his challenge should be now whether he can do it from the start.
"Commitment can sometimes be a touch of bravery, rather than throwing silly tackles in. Like keeping on asking for the ball.
"Tony looked a good player when he came on because he did the right things, holding it up and popping off to make five yard passes.
"He tried to make us a threat and, once or twice, he did link in."
The Bucks boss is wary of a knee-jerk reaction because of their tough start to the season, but admitted there are likely to be changes.
He's also got to try and keep the players fresh over the Bank Holiday weekend, with the Rovers clash followed by the visit of Watson's former club Southport on Monday.
He said: "Everyone is in contention to start at Bristol Rovers They get big gates and that could put pressure on them, while it might be good for our younger lads to play in front of a big crowd.
"I certainly have got to pick the lads up a little bit and encourage them. We have a young side and that's what we have endeavoured to do.
"Don't get me wrong, some of them have got to learn and quickly, but I would prefer if they did that on the job. I would just encourage everyone to stay behind them."
