AFC Telford complete deal for new striker
AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson added striker Sam Smith to his ranks.
Smith signed a one-year contract with the Bucks, who started their preparations for the step up to the Skrill Conference Premier when they checked in for pre-season training on Saturday.
Smith joined the squad as they were put their paces at Wrekin College.
The 24-year-old is a long-term target of Watson's and a proven performer at Premier level after appearing for Rushden & Diamonds, Corby Town, Lincoln City and Cambridge United.
The hit-man finished the season on loan from Cambridge at Hereford, scoring the goal that kept The Bulls in the Premier only for them to be expelled for financial issues.
Watson is not finished there, either, and is lining up his next capture before turning his attentions to loan deals.
He said: "I want to bring in another two on loan, from Football League clubs, and I always leave a space open for someone to turn up in pre-season, which always happens.
"I have been talking to Sam since February, so I never really envisaged problems unless a full-time club came in and made him a silly offer. I was always confident of getting him here."
