Andy Sinton tells AFC Telford to spark excitement
AFC Telford's supporters will have a 'big part' to play in helping the team turn their poor run of form around over the next couple of months, says boss Andy Sinton.
But the Bucks chief, whose team were due to play Wrexham at home today, has also urged his players to get their fans going by generating excitement on the pitch.
Sinton admitted his team, who had failed to win any of their last nine league games prior to today's clash, were lacking confidence and that nerves were affecting their ability to maintain a lead in matches.
Saturday's 2-2 draw at Stockport County, in which the Bucks were pegged back in stoppage time, was the third time this season that they have let a lead slip in the dying minutes.
Sinton believes the Bucks faithful can help the team to conquer that fear but that players must also provide the spark to get supporters going.
Asked why the side are struggling to maintain a lead in games, he said: "A little bit of fear creeps in. Sometimes you are not sure how to win the game.
"You think you are doing the right thing by dropping in and not letting teams in behind you but we have got to be a little bit tighter.
"So there is a lot of that, players playing under the radar, players playing with a lack of confidence.
"You get close to that win and then it gets snatched away and you have got to start again. We have got to learn and learn quickly.
"We had great support against Stockport just as we did at Wrexham and our crowd are going to play a big part in the next couple of months. They have been fantastic certainly since I have been at the club.
"I think they know we are in for a scrap again. They have got to get right behind us and give us every ounce of encouragement they can but it is up to the players on the pitch to make sure they get the crowd going.
"The crowd aren't going to respond and be vocal if there is nothing happening on the pitch so we have got to make sure we get the crowd involved in our games to our benefit."
