Andy Sinton urging AFC Telford aces to create history
AFC?Telford head into FA Cup fourth qualifying round action against Nuneaton tomorrow with boss Andy Sinton telling his players: "Write your name in the history books."
The Bucks boss has urged his troops to seize their chance and kick-start a memorable Cup run.
Sinton, who was a beaten FA Cup semi-finalist with Tottenham Hotspur in 1999, said: "I want a run because this club is steeped in tradition in the FA Cup and I would like my side to be part of that tradition and history.
"Some non-league club will go quite far in this competition this year and why can't it be us? It can only be us if we win tomorrow or if we win over two games (after a replay) so we will be trying our best.
"It's a fantastic competition and I have said to the boys 'if you are 19-years-old you have got 16 opportunities in your career if you are lucky to make a name for yourself or to create a bit of history for you and your team'.
"Every year that goes by is one less opportunity so it is one to look forward to.
"We've got an interesting game for a number of reasons and it is one that we will relish and prepare for properly."
Victory will put the Bucks into the draw for Sunday's first-round draw, which could see them paired against opposition from League One or League Two.
It will also bring £12,500 in prize money.
Sinton said: "The money is important to any club at this level and any money we can generate helps in different avenues and areas of the club."
Dan Preston rolled his ankle in the midweek friendly against Airbus but should be fit.
