Justin Edinburgh tipping AFC Telford to respond

Andy Sinton's former Tottenham Hotspur team-mate and current Newport County boss Justin Edinburgh has backed AFC Telford to bounce back from Tuesday's 4-2 defeat in style.

The former Spurs defender, who spent three years in the same team as the current Bucks boss from 1996-1999, said he has been impressed with Telford's start to the current Blue Square Bet Premier League season.

And despite their midweek defeat at home to Edinburgh's league leaders – where Kieron St Aimie and Dan Preston were sent off for Telford in a disappointing second half – he believes they will have a better season this time around than they did in 2011-12.

Last season Telford finished 20th, one position above the relegation zone, while Newport finished one point and one place better off.

Asked if he backed Sinton's side to bounce back from their latest setback, he said: "Yes I do. I think Andy's done a fantastic job here. This team is a better team than it was last year and we knew we were in for a tough night on Tuesday.

"We had to work right to the death even against nine men. Telford kept pressing and playing for their manager and rightly so."
