Andy Sinton angry at petulant AFC Telford

AFC Telford manager Andy Sinton has vowed to tackle his side's 'petulant' streak after they finished a game with nine men for the second time this season.

Kieron St Aimie and defender Dan Preston were both sent off in the second half as the Bucks went down 4-2 at home to league leaders Newport County last night.

St Aimie's dismissal followed an altercation with County player Danny Crow after 53 minutes while Preston was sent off for a second booking following an alleged off the ball incident on his return to the team from a six-game ban.

Telford had previously finished their game against Luton Town with nine men last month after Preston and Jake Reid had both been dismissed late on.

The latest red cards now bring the team's total to five in their first 11 games and the latest dismissals contributed to Telford's downfall after taking the lead against Newport.

Sinton said: "We don't fear anybody, there's goals in the team. But what we are seeing over the last five or six weeks, there's a petulance in the team as well.

"It started against Luton and in life you have to learn by your lessons. Well it's blatantly obvious that we are not learning by our lessons because it keeps happening and it's something I am going to deal with."

Sinton added: "The sendings off are both deemed to be for off the ball incidents. There's nothing I can do about that on the pitch.

"What I can do, once I have analysed it and seen it and got verdicts and had a look at it, is act on what I see and I will."

With St Aimie and Preston now facing suspensions and a lengthy injury, list the Bucks chief added he may look to bring in further new recruits to cover absences.

Liam Chilvers, who missed last night's game following his sending off against Mansfield on Saturday, was brought in earlier this month to cover a host of injured defenders.

And Sinton said: "We will see where we are on Thursday. I will try to bring people in if I can."
