A JAKE SPEIGHT penalty late in the first half denied Telford victory against high-flying Mansfield Town.

The Bucks had battled back from Lee Beevers' fortunate long-range strike to lead 2-1 after 34 minutes thanks to an own goal by Ryan Tafazolli and Richard Davies' clinical strike.

But their advantage was wiped out when Liam Chilvers was sent off for bringing down Stags striker Speight in the box.

And Speight punished the error with a cool spot kick six minutes before the break.

Alan Marriott then denied both Steven Leslie and Steve Jones with a brilliant double save just before half time.

Kieron St Aimie and Mansfield substitute Lindon Meikle both went close in a less compelling second half and Will Salmon made a vital block from Adam Murray's close range effort.

But the Bucks held on despite the numerical disadvantage to take a deserved point.
