Delighted boss Andy Sinton hailed keeping AFC Telford United in the Blue Square Bet Premier as his biggest achievement in football.
Sinton guided the club to promotion against the odds last season and who won 12 England caps during a playing career where he turned out in more than 300 Premier League games.
And the 46-year-old looked emotionally drained after the Bucks crept over the line with a 1-0 win over Tamworth at the New Bucks Head last night.
Tears flow as AFC Telford stay up
He said: "I'm washed out. It's been the toughest 10 months of my life, that's for sure. Your responsible for a group of players, a town and its supporters and I am absolutely exhausted.
"I worked bloody hard last year but that was a breeze compared to this.
"Last year, there were trophies paraded, books were written and quite rightly so, fulfilling the dream of eight years to get the club back where they belong was brilliant.
"But this year surpasses that for me, there will be no trophies and no books written this year, but this is a much, much bigger achievement for me.
"Keeping the team in the league this year far outweighs anything I've ever done."
Despite the struggle to get over the line and ensure survival, Sinton is adamant that he always had belief in his players.
"In my mind, there was never any doubt we were going to stay up," Sinton said
"I've got my faith in the players and we just needed to get our job done tonight and we did that."
