AFC Telford United turned in a much-improved performance as they held promotion hopefuls Mansfield Town to a goalless draw.

Richard Davies had the best two chances for Telford in what was a goalless first half.

He pulled a shot wide on just four minutes when played through by a cute flick from Craig Farrell.

And he hit the bar wuth a fierce shot after a surging run forward from midfield on the half hour.

The midfielder had a third opportunity in the second half, keeper Alan Marriott this time denying him.

Mansfield barely threatened the Telford goal, with debutant Jay Smith starring in midfield as well as competent first appearances for Ashley Cain and, off the bench, Steve Jones.

Jon Adams also came off the bench to make his 200th appearance for thelford.
