Striker Chris Sharp today admitted his relief at breaking his AFC Telford United goal duck – and vowed to keep on firing. The 25-year-old hitman joined from The New Saints earlier this month – the Bucks paying an undisclosed transfer fee for the first time in almost five years – but had failed to find the target in his first three outings. That all changed on Saturday as he scored a second minute opener to send the Bucks on their way to a 2-1 win over the Blue Square Bet Premier's bottom team Bath City. "I just bundled it over the line and I was happy to see it go in," said Sharp. "I wasn't yet at the stage where I was worrying, but it was starting to play on my mind."[24link]
"I wasn't yet at the stage where I was worrying, but it was starting to play on my mind.
"Getting the first one out of the way is a relief and hopefully more will follow now – I've seen enough here to see that the lads will provide chances for me and hopefully I can stick a few away."
Telford did suffer one set-back on Saturday, seeing former Wolves midfielder Nathan Rooney forced off with a tight hamstring inside the first 20 minutes.
That forced boss Andy Sinton to introduce winger Greg Mills in a change to his intended gameplan.
"We'd decided to use Greg off the bench as an impact player," said Sinton.
"He's still not fit enough to last 90 minutes in Conference football so we went with Nathan to try and retain the ball a little more.
"I want us to be a passing side but in the last few weeks we have gone away from that a little."
